Mitzi Brenner
Mitzi Brenner is a master teacher, instructional specialist, curriculum developer and trainer. She has developed numerous math activities that challenge students to think and communicate mathematically. Mitzi's experience integrating curriculum makes learning relevant and fun. In addition, her years as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, testing coordinator, and Tribes, TLC trainer provide her with a rich and varied background from which she is able to share practical and creative ideas that really work!Jeff Knight
Jeff Knight is a content development expert with more than ten years' experience in scriptwriting, editing, and instructional design. He has been the head writer at Ignite Learning for eight years, leading the scriptwriting effort for our entire suite of middle-school courseware. He collaborates with instructional designers and subject matter experts to create engaging scripts that teach core concepts and skills using memorable characters, catchy songs, and problem-based interactive templates.
Academically, Jeff holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.A. in Communication Studies from California State University at Northridge, and has taught a wide range of communication courses at the University of Texas at Austin. In his creative work, he is an award-winning poet, has published fiction and poetry in many literary journals, and has competed three times in the National Poetry Slam.
Michael Whalen
Michael Whalen is a curriculum and instruction expert who has been a part of Ignite! Learning since 2000. As an instructional designer, he maps the scope and sequence of the courses by researching industry, local, state, and national standards; collaborates with subject matter experts, writers, and media developers to ensure the content is held to a high instructional and curricular standard; designs the assessments; and provides necessary support and materials for the company's public liaisons.
Academically, Michael holds a B.A. from New York University, an M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction from The University of Texas at Austin's College of Education, and a composite social studies teaching certification. At a community level, he mentors young writers in Austin.
Lori Ollmann
Lori Ollmann is an educational leader with 17 years experience teaching Mathematics to students ranging from 6th grade to college undergraduates. As an assistant principal, master teacher and curriculum integration specialist, she has developed curriculum and professional development resources as well as, trained teachers and administrators. She earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Texas and a Master's of Educational Administration degree from Texas State University. In addition to her educational experience, Lori enjoys helping to facilitate educational change by utilizing research and best practices to improve instructional strategies to make learning fun and engaging for all.
